Organ Donor License Plates
More than 5 million Illinois residents have joined the Organ/Tissue Donor Registry. Yet, it is still not enough to meet the growing demand of those waiting for lifesaving transplants. More than 4,000 people in Illinois alone are awaiting transplants. Sadly, many of them will die waiting.
To help promote organ/tissue donation, my office offers Organ Donor License Plates. The plates pay tribute to the late Chicago Bears great Walter Payton whose struggle with a rare liver cancer raised awareness in regard to issues of donation. A portion of the proceeds from these plates goes to help in our continued efforts to educate people across the state about the critical need for donors. By purchasing these plates, you are helping in the effort to save lives through donation. One donor can help as many as 25 individuals.
